Union & NICL cross country results

The Union-La Porte City Cross Country Invitational is the last regular season meet of the year, and usually is a preview of the upcoming NICL Meet. The Gladbrook-Reinbeck Rebels ran one of their better meets of the year in the cooler, fall-like conditions. Tyler Bovy (16th) and Nicole Adair (20th) were medalists for the Rebels. The team champion for the girls was South Hardin with the individual champion being Abi Watson of North Tama. The team champion for the boys was Denver, as Kyle Kehoe of Denver brought home the gold medal.

As always, the NICL Meet was held at Oakleaf Golf Course in Reinbeck on Saturday, October 19th. With nearly 400 runners and 15 teams involved, this is one of the larger events held each year. The boys team championship went to Denver. Kyle Kehoe (15:52) was the boys individual champion. The girls team championship went to East Marshall. Haley Frye (15:39) from East Marshall was the individual champion.

Again, G-R came out ready to perform. Tyler Bovy and Nicole Adair each earned honorable mention status in the conference with their performances. But most runners improved their performance from a year ago, which is quite an accomplishment. The improvement made this year by this group of young people has been quite impressive. We will look to once again have a strong performance at the State Qualifying Meet in Eagle Grove on Thursday.
