Rebels run roughshod on Iowa Valley

GLADBROOK – Chase Clark dashed for 223 rushing yards on only 10 carries, scoring twice as Gladbrook-Reinbeck opened up Class A District 4 play with a 45-0 rout of Iowa Valley on the Rebels’ homecoming game at ‘The Pit.’

Clark scored on runs of 60 and 10 yards – and had a 93-yarder called back by penalty – as a part of the Rebels’ 35-point first quarter performance. G-R (2-2, 1-0) led 45-0 at the half and cruised to the victory. The Rebel defense held the visiting Tigers (1-3, 0-1) to minus-2 yards in the first quarter, 14 for the half, and just one first down.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck outgained its guest 445-90, averaging 9.7 yards per play. Dustin Dinsdale rushed three times for 92 yards and a 29-yard touchdown, and Eric Stoakes added 59 yards with a 10-yard TD scamper.

G-R quarterback Camden Kickbush had a 1-yard TD plunge and had to attempt only six passes on the night, completing one to Phil Zimmerman for 8 yards. Wyatt Swanson tacked on a 24-yard field goal.

The Rebels blocked a first-quarter punt attempt and Cameron Clark recovered for the score. Bryce Ehlers led G-R’s defense with 5 1/2 tackles and had one of the team’s three interceptions. Jeff Tscherter and Zimmerman had the others.

Iowa Valley was led by Austin Carney’s 38 rushing yards.
