Rebel golfers compete at NICL triangulars

UNION — The BCLUW girls’ golf team won a home triangular for the second time in as many nights, beating Gladbrook-Reinbeck and AGWSR in last Friday’s NICL meet at South Hardin Recreation Area.

The Comets claimed all of the hardware thanks to a 189 team score. Lindsay Beeghly charted a medalist round of 2-over-par 37, and Sydney Anderson shot the runner-up score of 44 for BCLUW. Marissa Schnathorst (53) and Leah McEwen (55) completed the team scoring.

AGWSR finished out with a 223, while Gladbrook-Reinbeck carded a 266.

Gabrielle Krueger led AGWSR with a 47, while Nattalee Brinkman paced G-R with a 58.

CONRAD — The BCLUW boys’ golf team shaved six strokes in one day and shot a 155 to win last Friday’s NICL triangular at Oakwood Golf Course.

The Comets carded a 155 team total to distance themselves from AGWSR (172) and Gladbrook-Reinbeck (185).

BCLUW’s winning round was captained by sophomore Zaden Eggers, who shot a 1-under-par round of 34 for medalist honors. Eggers had three-straight birdies on his way to the low round of the day.

Mason Martin scored a 35 to claim runner-up medalist for the Comets, who also got a 41 from Bodie Butler and matching 45s from Nate Bishop and Beau Towne.

Gabe Nederhoff led AGWSR with a 39. Austin Gehring’s 41 led Gladbrook-Reinbeck. Brayden Utter added a 47, Austen Mathern shot a 48 and Anthony Knaack a 49 for the Rebels.
