JV Rebel football

A short week was upon us as we faced off against the Mustangs from East Marshall. It was a Tuesday night instead of our normal Monday night contest and we are not sure if that is what affected our guys or what the deal was on this beautiful evening. As sharp as we were last week, we were every bit not sharp this week. We really struggled in the first half as we led 14-8 on a Parker Bown touchdown run and a Matt Roeding catch of a Jake Schuman ball for our other TD. After a rather spirited half time talk by coaches Skler Trunck, Dillon Trunck, and myself we seemed to respond in the second half as we moved to 2-0 on the year as we defeated the Mustangs 28-16. Our execution and fundamentals were much better the second half and that contributed to the victory. Hopefully a lesson was learned on this autumn evening that will be in these guys’ minds for a long time. We must come ready to play every night and give it our all. That is Rebel football.

Parker ended the night with 199 yards rushing on 17 carries and 3 scores. Jake passed for 94 yards and a TD also. Kainen Hendricks added 25 yards on the ground and 4 tackles on defense. Dimitry Strohbehn had 13 yards and 6 stops on D. Matt catch 1 other pass for a total of 57 yards and his first career touchdown in high school. Jake Mohlis hauled in a pass as did Erik Knaack to round out our receiving totals. Bryce Clark led the way with 8 stops on defense followed by Jacob Walters with 5. Tyler Pierce 4, Jed Peterson, Joe Baugus, and Slade Wager 3, Joseph Pepe 2, and Spencer Goos, Jaden McGhee, Alex Tscherter, Carter Murphy, Jon Edler, and Hunter Beachler all added 1 tackle each to our total. Jake added an interception and Carted recovered a fumble for us also on defense.

Our next action will be Monday at home versus the Union Knights starting at 6 p.m. Hope to see you on the sidelines.
