Cross country

The Gladbrook-Reinbeck harriers traveled to La Porte City on Tuesday, October 9th for the Union Invitational. The GR runners faced something unfamiliar this season, rain! Fortunately, everyone was happy in receiving some rain and having it end just before the races began. All in all it was a good evening for the meet and the Rebels were ready to compete.

Vasya Strohbehn ran his best race of the season and finished 7th overall in the JV boys race. The girls team had one of their best finishes of the season with Nicole Adair leading the pack (28th place) and Meg Edler (40th) came in next for the Rebels. The Lady Rebels finished 10th overall in the 18 team field.

We ran extremely well in the cooler and damper conditions. I was very impressed with the toughness we showed at the end of the race. Everyone had a little bit left in the tank to catch someone at the finish. Hopefully, our forward strides will continue as we finish the season.

The cross country season is beginning to wind down. There are two meets left on the docket. Saturday is the NICL Conference Meet in Reinbeck at Oak Leaf. And Thursday, October 18th, the State Qualifying Meet will be held in Marshalltown at MCC.
