NICL West

Championship Meet at South Tama

The Gladbrook-Reinbeck Boys Track team traveled to South Tama High School to compete in the NICL West Championships. This was a meet full of state championship caliber athletes in Classes 1A, 2A and 3A. The weather was nearly perfect for the evening and the Rebels saw improvement in the times/distances in nearly every event. The 4×800 team of Sam Johnson, Trevor Trunck, Austin Lott, and Wyatt Swanson placed 4th with a time of 8:54. Wyatt Swanson was 3rd in the 800 with a time of 2:05. And Zach Pierce placed 6th in the shot put with a throw of 41′.

Aldrich Relays at NU High

The final edition of the Aldrich Relays was a rather warm and sticky evening. The Rebels 4×800 team of Sam Johnson, Trevor Trunck, Austin Lott, and Wyatt Swanson placed 4th with a season best time of 8:43. Wyatt Swanson won the 800M run with a time of 2:04, and tied for 3rd place in the long jump with a leap of 18′ 3“. Once again, we saw some season best performances. The 4×100 relay team of Phil Zimmerman, Joe Zimmerman, Trevor Trunck, and Jeff Tscherter ran a season best time of 49.72. The Rebels finished the meet with 18 points.

Next week G-R travels to Parkersburg on Monday and Grundy Center on Thursday for the State Qualifying Meet.
