Royals rally past GMG
ZEARING — A four-run outburst by Colo-NESCO helped the Royals knock off the GMG baseball team 5-4 in Iowa Star Conference South Division action here Wednesday night, June 24.
GMG (3-15, 3-13) led 3-1 before the Royals rallied to take the lead for good.
Ethan Klemesrud allowed three runs — two earned — on five hits in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out nine and walked two before being relieved by Jacoby Woodbury, who surrendered two unearned runs and took the loss.
Jay Bessman and Woodbury had GMG’s only hits while Klemesrud, who was walked four times, scored three runs.
Hunter Purvis pitched 6 1/3 innings for the win for Colo-NESCO (7-10, 6-8), walking seven while striking out eight.
