Supervisors officially hire new full-time engineer

TOLEDO – During the Monday, April 17 meeting of the Tama County Supervisors, a new county engineer was hired. Benton Daleske, formerly the Fayette County assistant engineer, will start work on May 1.

The Assistant Engineer reported that contract rock should be finishing up that week. The X Avenue project in Dysart has been facing delays due to weather. Denco has finished work filling in cracks on various roads.

The utility that has previously delayed work on the Deer Creek bridge located on the west end of Toledo has been removed. It is currently unknown when PCI will start work on the bridge.

A fiscal year 2023 budget amendment hearing was set for May 15 at 9:45 a.m.

The resolution regarding maximum property tax dollars for General County Services and Rural County services was approved, stating that the General Services tax can’t increase more than 4.29% and the Rural County tax can’t increase more than 4.59%.

A resolution was approved transferring $492,083.36 from the Vienna TIF Fund to the Debt Service Fund. The Sheriff’s quarterly report and Recorder’s quarterly report were approved.

Claims totaling $387,017.03 were approved.
