Applications available for 2018 health care career scholarships

GRUNDY CENTER – The Grundy County Memorial Hospital Foundation is accepting applications for its Health Care Career Scholarships, which are available to local students who are currently enrolled in a health care program. Students who graduated from high school or currently reside in the GCMH service area of Butler, Grundy, Hardin and Tama counties are eligible to apply by May 31, 2018. Health care programs eligible for the scholarships include nursing, laboratory sciences, radiology sciences, ultrasound technology, physical and occupational therapy, pharmacy, dietetics, and emergency medical services (paramedic).

“The GCMH Foundation believes that supporting our local health care students is an important investment in our communities. Over the past ten years, the foundation has awarded close to seventy health care career scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $1,500 each,” remarks Erin Schildroth, Community Outreach Coordinator. “We encourage all local students who are currently enrolled in their health care program to apply.”

The scholarships are made available through the generosity of Sara Lee Yoder, who provided funds to the hospital upon her death, and by the family of Don and Susie Kliebenstein, longtime Grundy Center residents who supported the hospital during their lifetimes, as well as by the estate of Irene Stout, a former Foundation board member.

Application qualifications and forms for the 2018 Health Care Career Scholarships may be found on the Grundy County Memorial Hospital website, www.grundycountyhospital.org, ‘Ways to Give’ tab, or by contacting Schildroth at 319-824-4147 or GCMH_Foundation@unitypoint.org.
