Just what the Dr. ordered, CPR and Safe Sitter offered at GCMH

GRUNDY CENTER – “Tackle Your Sugar Cravings” is the October topic for

the Just What the Dr. Ordered series of classes at Grundy County Memorial Hospital.

The class is Monday, October 16, 5:30 7:00 p.m. in the hospital’s Education Room.

A registered dietitian-nutritionist will share what causes sugar cravings and how to avoid

added sugar for improved health. Grocery shopping and meal preparation tips are included

in the 90 minute class, which is free of charge.

Safe Sitter will be offered on Saturday, October 21, 8:30 a.m., for young teens who are just beginning to stay home alone, babysit for other children, or care for a younger sibling.

The class includes learning how to deal with emergencies, food preparation tips and basic first aid. To enroll, children need to have completed the fifth grade.

A CPR class will be offered for members of the public on Saturday, November 11. The Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED class is a combined class that will cover first aid, CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and AED (automated external defibrillator) use for those with little or no healthcare background. Participants will be issued a combined card and there is no written test. The class begins at 8:30 a.m.
