August classes at GCMH include meal prep CPR and weight loss

GRUNDY CENTER – As families prepare for the busy routine of back-to-school, does

getting a meal on the table sound challenging? Grundy County Memorial Hospital is offering “Family Meals: Anytime, Anyplace” on Monday evening, August 14, 6:00 7:00 p.m. The free session is aimed at helping provide busy families the tools to make family mealtime happen without stress. GCMH dietitians will provide simple meal tips, plus demonstrate a quick meal preparation for class members to sample together.

A CPR class for members of the public is being offered on Saturday, August 12, 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED class is a combined class that will cover first aid, CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and AED (automated external defibrillator) use for those with little or no healthcare background. Participants will be issued a combined card and there is no written test.

The hospital’s next session of its popular “100 Day Weight Loss Challenge” begins Monday, August 28, and continues through December 5, with five class sessions and weekly weigh-ins during the fall months. The class is taught by a registered dietitian-nutritionist, and includes proven strategies for healthy eating, weight loss, and maintaining a healthy weight. The motivational small group format has supported dozens of people on a successful health journey find out for yourself why this lifestyle program works. Class registration includes a Grundy Family YMCA membership.
