Health education classes offered at local hospital

GRUNDY CENTER – Two upcoming sessions of CPR and First Aid for the general public will be offered by Grundy County Memorial Hospital. The first class is Saturday, May 20,

8:30 a.m. 2:30 p.m., and the class will again be offered on Saturday, June 17, 8:30 a.m. 2:30 p.m. The class is for non-health care professionals and in addition to cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, includes use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Safe Sitter is offered on Thursday, June 8, 8:30 a.m. 2:45 p.m. for young teens who are just beginning to stay home alone, babysit for other children, or care for a younger sibling. The class includes preparation for emergency situations, food preparation tips, and much more. Children may enroll once they’ve completed the fifth grade.

The Live Well Summer Series offers free health information in a brief format. The first session is “Healthy Hydration” on Monday, June 19, 12:00 1:00 p.m. There is no cost to attend the one-hour session, which is taught by a GCMH registered dietitian-nutritionist.
