April health education classes offered at GCMH

GRUNDY CENTER – A variety of health education classes and support groups are offered during the month of April at Grundy County Memorial Hospital.

Pulmonary Support Group meets Monday, April 3 5:00 p.m. People who suffer from a pulmonary disorder can benefit from these group support sessions, which are facilitated by Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Coordinator Brandy Tripp, RN, BSN.

CPR and First Aid class for the general public will be offered on Saturday, April 15, 8:30 a.m. The class is for non-health care professionals and in addition to cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and first aid, includes use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).

Just What the Dr. Ordered Nutrition for High Cholesterol is a free class on Monday, April 17, 5:30 p.m. 7:00 p.m., for those whose doctor has told them they have high cholesterol. A registered dietitian-nutritionist will provide grocery shopping tips, meal preparation information, and other helpful ways to improve cholesterol levels.

Safe Sitter is offered on Saturday, April 29, 8:30 a.m., for young teens who are just beginning to stay home alone, babysit for other children, or care for a younger sibling.

The class includes learning how to deal with emergencies, food preparation tips, and basic first aid. To enroll, children need to be at least eleven years old by the date of the class.
