Health care scholarships available from Hospital Foundation

GRUNDY CENTER – The Grundy County Memorial Hospital Foundation will be awarding seven 2017 Health Care Career Scholarships to students who are enrolled in a health care program. Students who graduated from high school or currently reside in the GCMH service area of Butler, Grundy, Hardin and Tama counties are eligible to apply by May 31, 2017. Health care programs eligible for the scholarships include nursing, laboratory sciences, radiology sciences, ultrasound technology, physical and occupational therapy, pharmacy, dietetics and emergency medical services (paramedic).

“The GCMH Foundation believes that supporting our local health care students is an important investment in our communities. Over the past ten years, the Foundation has awarded close to 65 health care career scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $1,500,” remarks Erin Schildroth, Community Outreach Coordinator. “Thanks to the support of generous individuals, this support will continue. We encourage all local students who are currently enrolled in their health care program to apply.”

The scholarships are made available through the generosity of Sara Lee Yoder, who provided funds to the hospital upon her death in 2008, and by the family of Don and Susie Kliebenstein, longtime Grundy County residents, as well as by Irene Stout, a former Foundation board member. In addition, the GCMH Foundation sponsors local events each year to support the scholarship fund. Applications for the 2017 Health Care Career Scholarships may be found on the Grundy County Memorial Hospital website, www.grundycountyhospital.org, ‘Ways to Give’ tab, or by contacting Schildroth at 319-824-4147 or erin.schildroth@unitypoint.org.
