Walk with a Doc set for March 8

GRUNDY CENTER – Dr. Eric Neverman of UnityPoint Clinic Grundy Center and Grundy County Memorial Hospital invite members of the public to experience a healthy walk together!

Wednesday, March 8th, 5:00 p.m. is the date for the monthly Walk with a Doc, and in honor of Nutrition Month in March, the walk will begin and end at Brother’s Market, 1400 G Avenue, Grundy Center.

Once the walking group returns to the grocery store, hospital dietitian-nutritionist Crystal Petersen will discuss how to read food labels and select the most healthful products. “Simple grocery shopping strategies can help support good health,” says Petersen. “This brief session will help you navigate aisles like a pro, while building a tasty grocery cart that will feed your family well.”

‘Walk with a Doc’ is a free year-round walking program with more than 200 chapters across the country as part of an effort that pairs doctors with members of their community to encourage increased physical activity in people of all ages. Each walk begins with a brief health-related discussion led by Dr. Neverman. Walkers have an opportunity to ask questions on the walk, which lasts thirty minutes before returning to the grocery store. Individuals, families and children are welcome to attend.

Walkers should come with comfortable shoes and dressed for the weather. If weather conditions are extreme, the walk will be held inside the YMCA gym. No pre-registration is needed simply show up and walk! To receive monthly walk information, phone 319-824-5085or email GCMH_Info@unitypoint.org.
