GRUNDY CENTER, IA Grundy County Memorial Hospital (GCMH) recently wrapped up the sixth year of their Clinical Ladder program. This is a formal system that recognizes and rewards nurses who demonstrate advanced nursing knowledge and clinical skills. The applicants who meet criteria are rewarded for their proficiency and knowledge based on education, experience, and outstanding independent achievement.
The goals of this program are to assist in recruitment and retention of staff, to increase job satisfaction, and to motivate and reward clinical proficiency and knowledge. This program aims at improving the quality of patient care and promoting input from a wide variety of nursing staff.
The Clinical Ladder program is optional and completed yearly. GCMH is among few hospitals its size to offer such a program to their staff. A total of eight nurses completed the Clinical Ladder program in 2014.
