Bobcat bowlers split with Bulldogs
MARSHALLTOWN – The Marshalltown boys’ bowling team put together a comeback in Baker games to overcome Ottumwa for the 3,041-3,015 win in the Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2025, Iowa Alliance Conference dual at Wayward Social.
The Bobcats (2-1) trailed the visiting Bulldogs (2-2) by 29 pins after individual play, but five Baker games brought Marshalltown back to the victory. Marshalltown, which ranks second in the state with a 217.1 Baker game average, rolled five games averaging 215.2 pins to outscore Ottumwa by 55, 1,076-1,021.
The end result was a 26-pin triumph for Marshalltown over an Ottumwa team that finished with its high score of the season.
Aiden Cowan led the Bobcats individually with games of 246 and 214 for a 460 series. Cayden Slifer scored his best game of the season to finish next for MHS with a 172-223-395. Carter McCready (192-194-386), Gage Grieves (183-193-376) and Porter Niedermann (186-162-348) rounded out Marshalltown’s individual scoring.
Jesus Arangure rolled 225-246-471 to lead Ottumwa with his season-high series, and Noah Robertson also posted his top score of the winter with a 206-227-433.
