Teske’s one-hitter helps GMG baseball get first win
GREEN MOUNTAIN — The GMG baseball team earned its first win of the season, shutting out Collins-Maxwell 3-0 in the Wednesday, June 4 Iowa Star Conference South Division showdown.
Ethan Klemesrud was 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Wolverines (1-5, 1-4), who totaled eight hits. Colin Teske and Grady Dieleman both hit a double, and Rider Kupka singled and scored.
Teske pitched a one-hitter for the win, striking out seven in seven scoreless innings of work. He didn’t walk a batter and faced the minimum 21 Spartan batters.
Two days later, Wolverine baseball fell too far behind to catch Riceville, falling 11-6 in the Friday, June 6 Iowa Star Conference matchup. The host Wildcats (6-5) led 8-0 before GMG got on the board in the top of the fourth inning.
Teske and Dieleman both had two hits to lead GMG (1-6), including a double for Teske. Teske scored once and Dieleman twice.
Easton Sash and Joaquin Williams both hit a single for the Wolverines.
John O’Donnell struck out nine over 5 2/3 innings for the win for Rockford, allowing one run on three hits and three total walks. Dieleman took the loss for GMG.
