Mustang golfers at home take on G-R, GMG at home

Cody Weaver shot a 2-under-par 34 to earn medalist honors in leading the East Marshall boys’ golf team to a triangular triumph over Gladbrook-Reinbeck and GMG last Monday at Wandering Creek Golf Course.

Weaver birdied two of the last four holes to take medalist honors by a whopping nine strokes. Teammate Carter Anderson shot a 45 for runner-up honors for the Mustangs, Jackson Bidwell added a 53 and Lane Hart had a 58 to round out East Marshall’s 190 team score.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck carded a 212 led by Isaac Baer’s 48. Michael Boyd shot a 50, Kadyn Schick carded a 53 and 61s from Austin Gehring, Cole Fleschner and Luke Riffey represented the Rebels’ final team score.

GMG’s 254 was paced by Kaleb Gill’s 60. Zach Duncan (63), Trey Laffoon (64) and Dillon Bartell (67) also contributed to the Wolverines’ final tally.

On the girls’ side, Gladbrook-Reinbeck had the two lowest rounds but East Marshall escaped with a one-stroke team win. The Mustangs had a 248, G-R shot 249 and GMG was not far behind with a 256.

Nattalee Brinkman shot a 56 to medal for G-R, while Lauren Boyer was the runner-up with her 58. Mallory Wrage shot a 67 and Delaney Slifer-Drew added a 68 for the Rebels.

Delaney Ryan led East Marshall with a 59, followed by Bailey Grant (60), Marvea Harvey (64) and Sara Weitzell (65).

GMG got a 58 from Mariah Wood, followed by Aubree Runner (63), Linsey Kohn (65) and Olivia Maddux (70).
