The Class 1A No. 8 (Week 5) Gladbrook-Reinbeck volleyball team avenged an earlier defeat for the second time by sweeping No. 14 AGWSR, 25-15, 28-26, 25-9, in last Tuesday’s NICL West Division showdown.

AGWSR (9-13, 1-2) beat Gladbrook-Reinbeck (17-5, 2-1) in their first meeting this season during the North Tama Tournament, but the Rebels reversed course during their run to the G-R Tournament title on Saturday, Sept. 17.

Ava Wyatt had 16 kills and Megan Cooley added 10 for G-R. Emma McClintock totaled 30 assists at the heart of a G-R attack that hit at 32.1 percent efficiency. Wyatt and Cooley led the defense with three blocks apiece, while Kennedy Brant and Lily Dripps both had two blocks. Wyatt and McClintock led the defense as well with 12 and 10 digs, respectively.

Madisyn Eggers served 25-of-27 with two of G-R’s seven aces against the Cougars.
