GLADBROOK – The Gladbrook American Legion Auxiliary met on Monday, Oct. 14. Sue Koster, Education Chairman, asked GMG’s Secondary Principal, Clyde Tarrence, to give us an update on things happening at GMG for the program. He brought along four students. The group talked about a new program called “Outdoor Adventures” where they learn how to canoe, build a fire, and survive in the wild. Brayton Davis, a member of the cross country team, talked about how they were doing this year. Students were participating in the LEGO Club. FFA members were heading to Indianapolis for the National Convention with instructor Erin Murty. Students were exploring different careers with area businesses. Many students were taking college classes with MCC. One of the cheerleading students talked about the cheer program. The cheerleaders will be performing at the state competition. The Auxiliary members enjoyed their talk and enthusiasm.
At the meeting the members voted to donate to the Red Cross for hurricane relief. Americanism Chairman Lisa Reinhard will be doing a Community Veterans Day Program at Westbrook Acres on Monday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m. The Unit will be hosting a Veterans Day Supper on Monday, Nov. 18, at 6:30 p.m. in the Memorial Building. All veterans and their families – whether you belong to the Legion or not – are invited to come to the Pork Loin Supper. Widows of veterans are encouraged to attend as well. There is no charge.
