Reinbeck Art Festival and Car Show is Sept. 21

REINBECK — Reinbeck has an exciting festival planned on Sept. 21. The Festival is unique in that it offers a wide variety of arts and activities to please people of all ages and interests.

There will be cars, quilts, art, music and more. The Car Show, located on Broad Street and Main, has a wide collection of vehicles, as it is featuring motorcycles, cars and pickups. The Quilt Show (in the UCC Church at 225 Broad St.), will feature handmade quilts, (old, new, treasured, unique). Last year the quilts, which were over the backs of the pews, created a “sea of colors and shapes.”

A new feature this year is a magician, Rick Grammer. He will dazzle audiences with his magic from 11 a.m. to noon in front of Tranquility at 403 Main St. Also, new this year, is a Gladbrook-Reinbeck student art display in the Bill Davis Park at 412 Main St. Visit the display to see the creations and talents of local youth.

As is the tradition, there will be art activities for the children at the Library at 501 Clark St. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fun and fancy photo booth will be on Main Street waiting to capture a fun pose of individuals or a group. The Music on Main will present: Kirk Eastman performing from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Birdy Young from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; T Cubed will entertain the crowd from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The assortment of artists this year features Deb Ansley with her soap creations and creative sewing.

Nancy Barsic will be in City Hall with her working exhibit of papercutting profiles.

Christie Bolin will be selling her t-shits, mugs, etc.

Marion Boyer will have paintings in watercolor, acrylic and mixed media. Boyer will be located in Tranquility.

Angie Buffington, the local kettle corn vendor, will be there adding a wonderful scent in the air. She will be in front of 405 Main St.

Sam Cahalan is back with his metal art and yard art.

Susan Cunningham weaves, she will be selling rugs, placemats, coasters and more.

Cynthia Demkiv, will be inside City Hall with her acrylic paintings. Demkiv made her living selling her art when she lived in New York.

Joseph Doyen is an artist using alcohol ink on ceramic tile, cards and more.

Janet Drake, located inside City Hall has paintings that are framed and matted in watercolor, pastel, charcoal and ink, as well as sewing creations.

Kathy Etringer has handmade kiln fired glass, jewelry and art. Etringer also has framed pebble art.

Kathy Fehr is a fiber artist. She will have rag rugs, runners and placements.

Bruce Gordon is back with his creations of nature, primarily created with colored pencils.

Bob Hertges will be back in front of Nana Rosa’s with his wide variety of ceramics.

Helen Hunter is new to the festival. She’ll be inside City Hall with her watercolor landscapes, still life and animal paintings.

Teresa Johnson, located in City Hall, will have photography, cards, calendars and more.

Tom Kasal will be back with his wooden pieces.

Milton Madison, new this year, will be in City Hall with his Rustic Faith Woodworks of crosses, games and more made from reclaimed materials.

Becky Matthews will have wooden signs, boxes, leather pieces and more.

Andy Mills, sometimes known as Uncle Stinky, an on-sight working blacksmith, will be located on the corner of Main and Broad Streets with his wide variety of artistic creations and “magic wands.”

Angela Moore, a newcomer to the festival, will have watercolor originals and prints of chickens. She will have creative adult drink recipes in watercolor also.

David Norman will be located inside City Hall with rocking horses, rocking airplanes, potty-chairs and more for kids. Glenda Plozay will be selling watercolor paintings of nature, animals, birds and flowers.

Ginny Poppen will be inside City Hall with wall art of oil paintings on canvas and some framed, as well as watercolor paintings.

Kari Jo Ruden will be featuring handknit clothing, accessories, hats and home items. A few of her creations are her original patterns.

Amanda Sedivec will be featuring hand dyed and hand waxed aprons for a variety of purposes.

Alisa Engelhart Smith is a clay artist. She makes functional pieces such as mugs, bowls, spoon rests, garlic roasters and more.

Valerie Thorne, in City Hall, will have hand crafted art jewelry including necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings and more.

Rhonda Treloar, another newcomer to the festival, will be sharing a booth with Hertges. Her art is in combining rocks and driftwood.

Janna Voss will have hand built and wheel thrown pottery. She includes a variety of patterns into her pieces as well as combining hand built slab work with wheel thrown sections.

All these artists will be on Main Street, City Hall at 414 Main St. and “Tranquility on Main.” Pick up the map of the vendors in the Welcome Booth in the intersection of Main and Broad.

Local eateries and shops will also be open. Many will be having specials during the festival.

The Reinbeck Farmers Market will be open from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., too.
