DES MOINES – The 24 teams competing this year as part of the 41st Annual Iowa Governor’s Charity Steer Show at the Iowa State Fair were recently announced and include exhibitor Colbie Fevold of rural Gladbrook.

This annual event – facilitated by both the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association and the Iowa Beef Industry Council – is billed as a showcase of Iowa’s talented youth while simultaneously supporting the Ronald McDonald Houses of Iowa.

Fevold’s steer Mighty Maverick is sponsored by Iowa Premium located in Tama. Mighty Maverick’s celebrity exhibitor is Kaylynn Murty, the 2022 Tama County Fair Queen.

Fevold is 11-years-old. Her parents are Cody and Taylor Fevold. She has three younger siblings including Corie, Riverlyn, and Harrison.

In addition to showing cattle, Fevold enjoys Rodeo, showing goats, showing and raising shelties, photography, running, and being a big sister.

“I’m excited to show at the Governor’s Charity Steer Show because Maverick and I get to be a part of the effort to raise money for the families that need to stay at the Ronald McDonald house. Like our family once needed, we even celebrated Christmas there,” Fevold wrote as part of her essay for the show.

“When asked what I’m hoping to achieve with this opportunity, it would be to help raise as much money and awareness for the Ronald McDonald Houses as I can.”

Since 1983, the Iowa Governor’s Charity Steer Show has raised and donated over $4.5 million to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. As part of the annual event, steer owners and their families spend a day volunteering at Ronald McDonald House in Des Moines.
