It was a picture-perfect day for the annual 4-H Outdoor Adventure Camp held at Union Grove State Park near Gladbrook on Thursday, July 21. Close to 50 campers in grades third through eight from Gladbrook, Reinbeck, Tama, Marshalltown, and surrounding communities participated in a variety of outdoor activities including fishing, canoeing, air riflery, nature photography, camp cooking, nature art, and more. Staff from both Tama County Extension & Outreach and Tama County Conservation – among other organizations including Poweshiek County Conservation – assisted with the day’s activities. The July 21 event was supposed to be the second of two camp dates but the first (July 7) was canceled due to rain. The first camp’s rain date is set for August 4.
