Wayne Judge Sr. Memorial Antique Power Show held in Garwin
The Wayne Judge Sr. Memorial Antique Power Show was held in Garwin City Park on July 2. Featured was a vast array of antique tractors and equipment, Hit-n-miss engines, cars, and even a 76-year-old motorcycle. The annual show is sponsored by the Garwin Lions Club and is under the direction of Joe Parks of Garwin.
Parks stated, “I do this to keep life in Garwin. It is a family event and provides a day for families to enjoy themselves.”
A good size crowd enjoyed the opportunity to leisurely walk among the antiques and reminisce. The kids could climb on the old tractors and “drive” to their heart’s content.
A bountiful breakfast was served by the Garwin Lion’s Club and the Fireman’s Association sponsored a pulled pork lunch.
The late Wayne Judge Sr. had a love for the old “Hit-n-miss Engines” and started the show in 2006. The tractors were added in 2009 and recently the old vehicles. Many of the implements showcased included tractors and implements currently being used in original condition. That’s called “ageless iron”.
Each registrant was entered into a drawing for a collectible toy tractor. Tom Waite of Garwin was the lucky recipient.
The day closed with a Tractor Ride to Union Grove Lake and back.
In conjunction with the show, a hog roast was hosted by Garwin Fire Department at the city’s shelter house. Proceeds from the roast were earmarked for the new fire station.
