Kiburis repeats on All-State list
A second-straight season of improved statistics and another trip to the Class 1A substate finals was enough for Gladbrook-Reinbeck junior guard/forward William Kiburis to gain first team all-state honors from the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association, it was announced on Tuesday. This comes after a third-team selection in 2021.
Kiburis finished in the top-five in Class 1A in scoring (542, 21.7 per game) and assists (7.2 per game/180 total), breaking the 1,000-point mark in his third year as a varsity player and leading the way for a 23-2 season from the Rebels. His final numbers also included eight rebounds per game and 3.5 steals per contest — both ranking in the top-10 in 1A as well.
Kiburis was key to the Rebels’ style of offense, utilizing his ability to bring the ball up and direct traffic as a point guard while also using his height and length to finish through contact inside and run the offense from the high post area.
