South Hardin Fun Run Result The Gladbrook-Reinbeck Cross Country team participated in the South Hardin Fun Run on Thursday, September 5th. The warm temperatures did not slow down the competition, as we saw several strong competitors from area schools. This is one of the unique meets that the Rebels participate in, since there is no delineation of varsity and junior varsity runners. The girls race was first on the docket and we had a chance to see where we stood against several NICL schools. Nicole Adair led the pack for the Rebels with a 17th place finish. Meg Edler and Hannah Martin were in at 38 and 43rd places respectively. Kelsey Schwartz finished in 56th place, while Amber Berendes was 71st overall. This gives us a measuring stick of where we stand. Now we are faced with improving in each meet and moving forward. The boys race was the finale of the night. Senior Tyler Bovy ran with the leaders for much of the race and finished in 14th place overall. Vasya Strohbehn came in at 68th place, while Cole Goos finished in 95th place. As a group, these boys are better than they were a year ago and will get stronger throughout the season. Much like the girls team, we now know where we are at and will look to improve each meet throughout the season. This week the Rebels run in Grinnell on Tuesday, September 10th and at Benton Community (Atkins) on Saturday, September 14th. The middle school runners will be participating in the meet on Saturday for their first meet of the season.
