REINBECK – During the monthly bingo night held on April 18 at The Dig Inn, three members of the Reinbeck Lions Club were honored with the Iowa Lions Foundation’s prestigious Warren Coleman Honorary Award including Chris Frischmeyer, Craig Schildroth, and Dale Wambold.

The award is the highest honor that recognizes members for their service to the community and their commitment to Lions’ standards.

During a brief ceremony held on April 18, Rick Krug, a member of Dysart Lions Club and an Iowa Lions Foundation trustee, presented the trio with their respective award plaques.

According to Wambold, the award is given annually to a club that has contributed over $1,000 to the Iowa Lions Foundation.

“The Reinbeck Lions Club has donated over $3,000 over several years. This made us eligible for [three] members of our organization to receive the award,” Wambold explained in an email to the newspaper. “The last time Reinbeck [Lions Club] received the award was in 2017.”

Wambold said a local selection committee made up of three Lions Club members made the determination who among their membership ranks met the award’s requirements and subsequently applied for the honor.

The Warren Coleman Honorary Award dates back to 1988 and is named for past Lions Club District Governor and veteran Warren Coleman, a longtime member of the Oskaloosa Lions Club.

In 2023, Reinbeck Lions Club poured more than $10,000 back into the local community. Projects that benefited financially from the club’s commitment to service last year include the following:
