Fresh-Spoh Rebel Football By Coach Mike Bengen

Our last outing of the year for the Fresh-Soph took place Thursday October 11 at Denver to take on the Cyclones. We knew going in we would be facing off against their JV squad plus a few Juniors and possibly some Seniors that don’t see any time on Fridays for the Cyclones. We were ready to go and we just needed to play another game. Nothing is better than being in game situations for these kids to grow as competitors and football players. We were not afraid of anyone and we are just wanting to compete. This is a great sign from a great group of kids. Denver played well early and jumped out to a 30-14 lead at the half. Our coaching staff did a great job of making adjustments and we crept back for a 30-30 tie at he end of 3 quarters. Denver scored a late TD to send us home with a 38-30 defeat ended our year at 1-3. Eric Stoakes had another big game with 259 yards rushing and 4 TD’s. Brady Kuehl and Jake Schuman handled the quarterback chores and ended the night 6 of 16 for 51 yards. Cameron Murphy added 26 yards on the ground and also had a PAT run and 3 tackles on the other side of the ball. Carter Murphy, Josh Cooley, Brock Bystricky, and Kainen Hendricks all had catches for us also. Ty Eiffler led the way with 10 tackles on defense. He was followed by Logan Phillips,Eric, Josh, Bryce Ehlers, and Bryce Clark with 4 each. Bennett Petersen and Logan Flamme added 2 stops apiece and Jake Mohlis had a stop of his own for our defense. Ty and Brock also each recovered a fumble. This was a very good Denver team who was playing many upper classmen. The coaches were very happy with the effort and execution. It was a very good ball game for us and we certainly got a lot out of it.
