Mr. McQuillen

By Shandra Simo Gladbrook-Reinbeck High School has a new principal this year. Andrew McQuillen previously taught business at G-R from 2011-2014 and coached cross country, basketball, and track. He also taught drivers’ education and helped the district integrate more technology in his previous stint at G-R. McQuillen also taught at Union in La Porte City from 2005-2011 and at Grundy Center from 2014-2015. McQuillen has been involved in technology for several years and has been a part of several community projects, like Main Street Iowa and Web Designs. Our new principal has a master’s in education from the University of Northern Iowa and a bachelor’s from UNI as well. Explaining why he wanted to become a principal, McQuillen said, “I was at a point in my teaching career where I was ready for a change. I enjoyed teaching business classes, but I saw the need to challenge myself with a job that could impact more people.” McQuillen enjoys running, biking, fishing, and reading. He has even completed his first triathlon in May and done parts of RAGRAI. So if you get the chance, you can stop in and make Andrew McQuillen feel welcomed back to our school!
