Local MCC students inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society
MARSHALLTOWN – Phi Theta Kappa advisors Dr. Cecil Holland and Jen Gunderson are pleased to announce the induction of 62 students into the Alpha Iota Rho Chapter at Marshalltown Community College this spring.
Students were formally recognized during an induction ceremony held Tuesday, April 7, at MCC. The event was attended by college faculty, staff, and administrators, who gathered to celebrate the academic achievements and leadership of the newest members.
Inductees and guests heard remarks from MCC Provost Matt Schmit; Faculty Senate Vice President and Associate Professor of English Amee Schmidt; and Alpha Iota Rho Chapter officers Jenna Van Law, Rexanna Millard, and Montana Morgan.
This spring’s ceremony featured the largest group of inductees in the college’s history. MCC would like to thank the community for the incredible turnout and for showing such strong support for these students.
Phi Theta Kappa is the premier international honor society for students at two-year colleges. To be eligible for membership, students must be enrolled in a diploma or associate degree program, have completed at least 12 credit hours, and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher.
