REINBECK – In the program’s very first year of existence, three members of the Gladbrook-Reinbeck archery team have qualified for the state tournament.

The 2026 Iowa NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) State Championship is set for this weekend, March 27-29, at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. Rebel eight-graders Carter Egesdal and Kaylee Kauffman, shooting as individuals for the middle school team, along with fifth-grader Yuri Paris, shooting as an individual for the elementary division, all qualified for the championship tournament organized by the Iowa DNR.

Per G-R coach Dave Dunn, to qualify for state, an archer’s top two tournament scores from the season are added together and then compared to a minimum qualifying score. “There are teams and individual archers,” Dunn explained. “The teams are divided into three divisions – elementary, middle school, and high school. Individual divisions are elementary boys/girls, middle school boys/girls, and high school boys/girls. We did have enough archers to qualify as a middle school team but we didn’t score high enough to qualify.”
