DUNKERTON – The Gladbrook-Reinbeck Rebels boys basketball team opened district play on the road at Dunkerton Monday, Feb. 16, upsetting the Raiders, 68-52, to advance to the district semifinals.

G-R (8-13) trailed the Raiders (13-9) by a mere point after the first quarter before flipping the script completely in the second – outscoring Dunkerton 23-14 to seize a 32-24 halftime advantage.

The Raiders attempted to claw back in the third, but G-R matched the push to maintain control and carry a 43-36 lead into the final quarter. The Rebels racked up a whopping 25 points in the fourth for the upset.

With the quarterfinal win, the Rebels (9-13) moved on to the 1A District 2 semifinals and were scheduled to play South Winneshiek (19-3) on Thursday, Feb. 19, in Calmar.
