REINBECK – Rebel senior forward Kennedy Brant added two more achievements to her storied high school basketball career here on the evening of Thursday, Jan. 22, by becoming the school’s all-time scoring leader while also pulling down her 1,000th career rebound during Class 1A No. 4 Gladbrook-Reinbeck’s 74-26 trouncing of Sumner-Fredericksburg (6-9). Against the Cougars, Brant tallied 17 points to reach 1,257 career points and set the record. As if that wasn’t enough, she notched a double-double that evening with 17 rebounds to place her squarely in the rarified 1,000th rebound club. She also had four assists, four steals, and a game-high three blocks for the Rebels. The newspaper reached out to school officials regarding the specifics of the scoring record Brant broke on Jan. 22, but as of press time had not yet heard back. Ahead of G-R’s NICL clash with Class 2A No. 10 Grundy Center (13-1) at home this past Tuesday, Brant led the conference in numerous ways, including points (278); rebounds (218) – also No. 1 across all classes; blocks (50); and field goals made (118).
