REINBECK – In their inaugural season at the targets, members of the Gladbrook-Reinbeck Rebel archery team are set to tackle their first set of competitions this weekend on the road, competing in South Tama’s Richard & Vicki Koehler Tournament (bullseye) on Saturday, followed by a dual bullseye tournament with STC on Sunday. In preparation, STC superstar archer Ava Boldt (pictured, right of the center bullseye, with JH/HS members of the G-R team) visited G-R’s practice on Tuesday, Nov. 25, to work with the rookie Rebels, addressing tournament preparation, proper form, and much more. This past summer, Boldt earned top honors at the 2025 NASP Championship in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Rebel archery team is coached this season by head coaches Tracey Dunn (fifth from left) and David Dunn (far right). The program, open to all G-R students in grades 4-12, currently boasts a roster of 30. All of the archers are new this season to NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) but showing great potential, according to the coaches, who told the newspaper, “All archers will be signed up for the dual on December 7. Our coaches will collaborate with South Tamas coaches along with some of their seasoned archers to make sure they have a positive experience at their first competition. … These first tournaments will be a good baseline the archers can use to see their progress moving forward this season.”
