Local XC teams compete at South Hardin Invitational
ELDORA — The East Marshall cross country teams swept the South Hardin Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 4, getting third-place individual finishes in both races.
The Mustang boys scored 25 points to pace the field of five scoring teams, getting all five scoring runners inside the top 10. Austin Pansegrau was third in a time of 20 minutes, 15.0 seconds, followed by Chandler Curtis in fourth (20:31.6), Landen Shoeman in fifth (20:43.0), Cael Curphy seventh (21:00.7) and Maddux Bennett eighth (21:01.3).
South Hardin (67), Cedar Ridge Christian (79), Colo-NESCO (82) and Gladbrook-Reinbeck (101) rounded out the scoring teams.
GMG’s Brayton Davis was the next-best area finisher, clocking in at 20:54.1 for sixth place. Henry Dieleman was 11th in 21:49.3, just back of G-R’s Caleb Bowser in 10th (21:17.3).
South Tama’s three participants all finished consecutively — Riley Stubbs 19th (23:45.3), Nolan Arp 20th (23:45.7) and Kyler Johnson 21st (23:46.0).
On the girls’ side, East Marshall edged South Hardin as the only two scoring teams in attendance, 25-30.
The Mustangs were led by Sydney Hull, who cleared third place with a time of 23:04.7. Abigail Hendricks was sixth in 25:47.1, while Ava Hendricks was eighth (26:18.4). Faith Pardekooper was 11th (27:16.3) and Hayden Braye 13th (29:06.4) to round out the East Marshall lineup.
GMG’s Grace Mathern finished in fifth (24:52.1), while Taelyn Sash was ninth in 26:43.7.
Gladbrook-Reinbeck’s lone runner Katelyn Monaghan came away with 18th place (39:57.2).
