Undefeated No. 3 Rebels smoke Spartans in second half; Herron notches 7 rushing TDs

MAXWELL – The No. 3 Gladbrook-Reinbeck Rebels (6-0, 4-0) football team defeated the Collins-Maxwell Spartans 54-13 in a Week 6 road game on Friday, Oct. 3, to remain undefeated on the season and notch another 8-player District 6 win.

The Rebels led 18-13 at the half before outright smoking the Spartans (5-2) in the second, scoring 30 points in the third quarter and one additional touchdown in the fourth.

G-R rushed for a colossal 356 yards and seven touchdowns with junior Treyvon Herron amassing nearly all of it including 339 yards and all seven strikes.

Rebel signal caller, senior Trevor Mathern was 7-for-13 passing 103 yards and one short touchdown fielded by senior Hudson Clark.

A trio of two-point conversions were recorded by seniors Hudson Clark, Kael Blohm, and Dreyson Morgan.

The Rebel defense made 47 tackles, to the Spartans 27, led by Herron (10) including three for loss.

This week, G-R will face Clarksville (5-1) in another District 6 clash beginning at 7 p.m. at “The Pit” in Gladbrook. Senior Night will be celebrated during the game.
