COLFAX — The East Marshall volleyball team went 2-2 at the Colfax-Mingo Tournament on Saturday, Aug. 30, scoring a pair of straight-set sweeps against Iowa Star Conference teams.

The Mustangs (3-3) fell to Iowa Valley in three sets (21-17, 13-21, 15-12) and Coon Rapids-Bayard in two (21-7, 21-11). East Marshall closed the day by sweeping Baxter (21-18, 21-14) and GMG (21-18, 21-19).

Alivia Neuroth and Marisa Cahalan led the Mustangs with 15 kills apiece. Natalie Condon added nine kills, Ashtyn Wheater had eight and Kiela Wolf six. Mya Gould handed out 41 assists.

Libby Atcher led the defense with 23 digs, while Neuroth had 19 more. Condon’s three blocks led at the net. Gould was the team’s leading server, going 36-for-42 with 13 aces. Neuroth was 23-for-25 with five aces, while Wheater was 23-for-26 with three aces. Cahalan added seven aces and Wolf scored six.

GMG fell to 0-4 for the season with three losses on the day, falling in straight sets to Nodaway Valley (21-14, 21-18), Colfax-Mingo (21-17, 21-18) and East Marshall.

The Wolverines were led by Arianna Pierce and Makayla Pendleton with nine kills apiece. Rhianna Murty had six kills, while Hadlee Hempy finished with 28 assists.

Defensively, Ava Maddux had 11 digs and Jocie Parks had seven more, while Hempy led with three blocks. Riah Boege, Skyler Murty and Pierce had two apiece.

Maddux was the team’s top server, going 27-for-29 with six aces. Parks was 16-for-16, while Hempy was 14-for-18 with two aces.
