GARWIN – For the third year in a row, GMG’s Colin Teske is a first-team all-conference pick.

The Wolverines’ top all-around player, Teske was one of seven local preps selected to the first team of the all-Iowa Star Conference’s South Division. It’s the fourth all-conference honor of his high school career after earning second-team status as a freshman.

Teske led the Iowa Star South with a .537 batting average, a .578 on-base percentage, 10 doubles and a triple this summer to represent GMG on the first team. He scored 14 runs, didn’t strike out in 41 at-bats, and stole five bases.

On the mound, Teske compiled a 4-1 record in conference play. The remainder of his pitching statistics are incomplete, but his impact was evident in his third-straight first-team selection.

Additionally, GMG senior Grady Dieleman was a second-team outfield pick, while fellow senior Joaquin Williams received an honorable mention.

BCLUW head coach Matt Zoske was named the league’s Coach of the Year for the second summer in a row, and Collins-Maxwell junior Cooper Wierson was voted the Iowa Star South’s Player of the Year after batting .393 with six doubles, a home run and 13 RBIs. On the mound he was 4-1 with a 0.53 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 53 innings pitched. He posted a 0.70 WHIP after issuing only 14 total walks while opposing batters hit just .131 against him.
