12th Annual Grundy County Bow Shoot Results

By: Nick Buseman, Grundy County Conservation Operation Supervisor “Beautiful weather” and “great set up” were common phrases heard during the shoot on August 10th and 11th. Over the two day shoot we had 68 shooters from Grundy and the surrounding counties. We were hoping for a few more shooters, but overall it was a great shoot. We had shooters from as young as 7 years old to near 80. Pretty much every participant expressed how nice the course was and was amazed there weren’t more shooters. As the phrase goes, “there is always next year.” Plans are to ramp up advertising next year and we are looking for a sponsor. Anyone out there interested in sponsoring a great family bow shoot give us a call at 319-345-2688. From cards turned in at the two day shoot we would like to recognize the top shooters in the different classes:

Men’s Open Bow Hunter Allen Wical 411 Luke Anderson 414 Chris Caldwell 382 Jeremy Babcock 380

Youth Cub Bo Gerbracht 297 Clay Buseman 331 Cade Rose 267 Cali Buseman 321 Congrats to these fine shooters on a very tough course, and a thank you to all the shooters that came out and supported our shoot. The time to be perched 15 feet in the air is just around the corner. My favorite time is just that, but to savor the moment and place your arrow in the lethal part of the animal you need to practice. Bow shoots are a great way to hone those skills for the upcoming season. There are shoots every weekend all over the state, check out the IBA (Iowa Bowhunters Association) website calendar to find one. Keep practicing up to and throughout the season. To fellow bow hunters, good luck and be safe this fall.
