GC/G-R girls soccer squad remains unscored upon REINBECK — The Class 1A No. 10 Grundy Center-Gladbrook/Reinbeck girls soccer team continued its undefeated start to the season with a 4-0 victory over No. 12 Hudson on Tuesday. In four games now, the Rebels (4-0) have yet to surrender a goal while scoring 22 of their own. Maddie McMartin was the leading scorer on Tuesday with two goals on five shots against the Pirates (2-1) and she had an assist. Reece Gordan had one goal on four shots and Jacque Kuester had one goal on two shots. Carsen Hamann was busy in the net but she was able to keep Hudson off the scoreboard with 14 saves in 80 minutes of play.


Rebel soccer makes it three straight by blanking CMB REINBECK — The Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys soccer team won its third-straight game on Tuesday with a 5-0 shutout of Collins-Maxwell/Baxter. After falling in their first game of the season, the Rebels (3-1) have won their last three by a combined 19-0. Colton Clark had two goals on four shots for GC/G-R, converting on two of his three shots on goal. Drake Blakesley, Cullen Eiffler and Brady Jacobson had the other goals for the Rebels, and Travis Kuester had three assists. Kale Hasselman pitched the shutout in goal, recording four saves in his 80 minutes of work.


GC/G-R boys tennis team cruises to 3-0 GRUNDY CENTER — The Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys tennis team remained unbeaten on the year with Monday’s 7-2 triumph over Union Community. The Spartans (3-0) won five of six singles matches and two of three doubles bouts to stay perfect while sending the visiting Knights to 0-4 for the spring. Freshmen Dane Zinkula and Braiden Sawyer both scored 10-0 wins in Nos. 3 and 4 singles play, respectively, while classmates Sloan Klar and Bryce Greiner were 10-1 winners at the Nos. 5 and 6 spots. Cale Henricks captured a 10-2 victory over Levi Gray at No. 2 singles, but Union’s Rhett Peters picked up his team’s lone singles win with a 10-0 sweep of Nick Voss at No. 1. Peters and Gray got the Knights’ lone doubles victory, too, by edging Voss and Hendricks 10-7. But the Spartans finished off the dual win with Zinkula and Sawyer teaming up for a 10-0 shutout at No. 2 doubles, and Klar and Greiner getting a 10-2 win at No. 3.


Rebels shut out Denver in boys soccer REINBECK — The Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys soccer team shut out Denver for a 3-0 win on Monday. Cullen Eiffler, Brady Jacobsen and Aiden Wyatt each had the goals for the Rebels (2-1). Eiffler converted on one of his two shots on goal, Jacobsen scored on one of his three shots on goal, as did Wyatt. Kale Hasselman recorded five saves in net for GC/G-R.
