MCCALLSBURG – Colo-NESCO used three runs in the fifth inning and another three runs in the sixth to defeat Gladbrook-Reinbeck, 7-1, in the Class 1A Region 2 quarterfinals on Wednesday.

Shayla Dean led the way for the Royals (16-15), going 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored. Chelsea Henze went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Mackenna Ruffcorn and Grace Stalzer each collected an RBI.

Ruffcorn picthed a complete game to get the win, giving up one unearned run on one hit, walking none and striking out four.

The Rebels’ season comes to an end with a 5-17 record.

The Royals advance to the region semifinals where they will take on fifth-ranked AGWSR on Friday at 7 p.m. in Ackley.
