Kickbush returns, Rebels run past Grundy Center
REINBECK – Senior point guard Camden Kickbush poured in a team-leading 20 points in his return from a football injury, helping the Class 1A No. 3-ranked Gladbrook-Reinbeck boys’ basketball team rebuff Grundy Center 70-51 in Tuesday’s North Iowa Cedar League West Division clash.
Kickbush knocked down five 3-pointers in his first game back after missing the Rebels’ first six games as well as the G-R football team’s state championship game against Logan-Magnolia after breaking his collarbone in the semifinal win over Denver.
Zach Pierce and Cameron Clark posted up for 15 points for the Rebels (7-0, 6-0), while Joe Smoldt tallied nine points, six assists and five steals. Pierce led G-R with nine rebounds and two blocked shots to go with six assists, and Clark tallied eight boards.
Luke Holman chipped in with nine points, including two 3-pointers, in the victory.
The Rebels visit East Marshall on Friday night, while Grundy Center (3-7, 2-4) goes to West Marshall.
