G-R 34, Hudson 6

GLADBROOK – Chase Clark rushed 23 times for 156 yards and two touchdowns, and Gladbrook-Reinbeck turned around the turnover margin from its opener for a 34-6 victory over Hudson in Week 1 football.

Camden Kickbush threw a pair of touchdown passes and Eric Stoakes’ 2-yard TD plunge finished off the Rebels’ scoring late in the third quarter. Hudson had just 10 first downs and did not score until 6:44 showed remaining in the game.

G-R, which committed four turnovers in its season-opening defeat at Denver, won the turnover battle 3-1 on this night. Logan Flamme had a fumble recovery and an interception, and Pete Meyers also fell on a loose ball to help the Rebels even out their record at 1-1.

Hudson’s Cameron Wright ran for 122 yards, most of which came on his 94-yard scoring scamper in the fourth quarter. The Pirates totaled 224 yards of offense, just 130 prior to that breakout run.

Kickbush finished 5-for-10 for 100 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. He hooked up with Josh Cooley for a 37-yard score to make it 20-0 Rebels at the half. Kickbush and Colton Dinsdale connected for a 26-yard TD in the third.

The Rebels go on the road to face Dike-New Hartford next Friday night in non-district play. G-R hasn’t defeated the Wolverines in their last four tries.
