Hosch pitches perfect game as Sailors stump Rebels
MASON CITY — Waterloo Columbus senior Aiden Hosch pitched a perfect game as the Sailors shut down Gladbrook-Reinbeck for a 10-0, six-inning victory in the Monday, July 7 Class 1A District 6 first-round baseball game at Newman Catholic High School.
Hosch needed only 68 pitches to put away the Rebels (9-18). He struck out six and walked none, and the defense committed no errors behind him.
Hosch also led the Sailors (11-20) on offense, going 3-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and three runs scored. Bryce Noland singled and drove in three runs.
Drew Eilers took the loss on the mound for G-R, giving up 10 earned runs on five hits and seven walks while striking out six in 5 2/3 innings.
