G-R 4, South Hardin 3, 8 innings

ELDORA – Gladbrook-Reinbeck found a flair for the dramatic, scoring twice in the seventh and two more times in the eighth for a come-from-behind win over South Hardin in Tuesday’s NICL West contest.

Taylor Street’s two-run single to right field in the seventh inning drove in Carrie Shouse and Kristen Tessau as the tying runs.

Paige Thompson doubled leading off the eighth, Kayla Holbach reached on an error, and Taylor Flamme plated the go-ahead run with a groundout. Shouse followed with an RBI single, plating Holbach’s courtesy runner Amber Berendes.

Thompson pitched all eight innings for the win, striking out six and walking one. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate, while Shouse was 2-for-4 for the Rebels (10-15, 6-7).

Kate Shindelar was the losing pitcher for South Hardin (4-20, 2-11), which lost its seventh straight.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck hosts BCLUW in a conference contest on Thursday night at 6 p.m. in Gladbrook. South Hardin goes to AGWSR on Friday.
