CMS John Keith Laborde died on April 22 in Afghanistan. 20 YEARS AGO MAY 4, 2000 Open house planned for Sun May 7 at the new Grundy Co. jail in Grundy Center. Ground breaking ceremonies were held last Friday, April 28, for Westview Estates. The new structure will feature 30 units and one guest apartment. Mr. & Mrs. Kevin Brumbaugh of Garland, TX are parents of a daughter born April 28. Adele Green, 99, Reinbeck, died Dec, 18 at Parkview Manor. Lenna Rowe, 78, Lincoln & Gladbrook area, died April 29 at Westbrook Acres in Gladbrook. Dorothea Hawkins, 89, died at her home on April 12 in Chatham, Canada. Elmer Greve, 80, Gladbrook, died April 30 at Un. of Iowa Hospitals. Lonna Moeller, 85, died May 1 at the Grundy Co. Hospital. Bill Davis was named to Alpha Lambda Freshmen Honor Society. 30 YEARS AGO MAY 17, 1990 Frank Smith, 73, Morrison, died May 11 at Covenant Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Anne Fisher, 82, Grundy Center, died May 4 at Allen Hospital.Mr. & Mrs. Lynn Trask are parents of a son born May 3. Jonsey Watson ended his painting career. 40 YEARS AGO MAY 22, 1980 Verlyn Rysdam memorial winners were Susan Conradi and Robin Cooper. Mr. & Mrs.Dennis Ihns are parents of a daughter born May 14. Reinbeck girls track team wins Big Iowa Conference. 50 YEARS AGO MAY 21, 1970 Charles Wical was killed in a one car accident south of Dike on May 16. Dean Eckhardt, 49, died at the Vets Home in Iowa City. Mr. & Mrs.Lance Jones are parents of a daughter born May 18. Harri DeBerg, 78, died May 15 at the Grundy Co. Hospital.
