Mrs. Charles Nevenhoven of Grundy Center won $900 last week at Ernie’s Super Valu bankroll give away.

Katherine Stubbe, 44, Ackley, was killed in a 2 car accident on Hwy #175 nine miles west of Grundy Center.

Homecoming Queen candidates are: Brenda Brandt, Deb Allen, Cindy Dufel, Jan Sager and Honorary Queen foreign exchange student Sue Stahmer.

Latest high priced land sale in Grundy County was reported at $3,025 per acre.

Scott Koch, Mike Lynch, William Barker and alternate Todd Schildroth representing the Reinbeck Elementary School were big winners on the “Community Quiz” program seen on KWWL-TV. The team won $50 for the school by defeating a team from Denver.

Mr. & Mrs. Henry Frei will observe their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 24.

Patricia Ehlers and Ron Peterson were married Oct. 9.

Cynthia Royer and Curtis Plaehn were married on Oct. 2.

Gregory Schmidt, son of Mr. & Mrs. Wayne Schmidt, received his PhD degree in biology from St. University of New York on Sept. 30. Gregory was a 1965 graduate of Reinbeck High School.

Grand prize winner of the Fire Prevention Poster Contest is 6th grader Kirk Folkerts, son of Mr. & Mrs. Don Folkerts.

OCT. 13, 1966

Barbara Bicket was crowned Homecoming Queen.

Newly elected officers at Oakleaf Country Club are Noel Lorenz, President and Eldon Hoeppner Vice-President. Don Richards was elected to the Board of Directors.

The fire department was called to the Harry Adair, Sr. farm east of Reinbeck to extinguish a small fire caused by a hot exhaust while picking corn.

Vern DauSchmidt, 63, was seriously injured near the Wm. Soska farm east of Reinbeck. He had gotten off the tractor to remove rubbish in the road when the tractor started to move. Vern tried to stop it when the large wheel ran over his body.
