As a family farmer raising two kids with my wife by Dysart, I follow state politics closely. I know firsthand how decisions made in Des Moines ripple down to our farms, our small businesses, and our kids’ futures – from property taxes to ag policy to the health of our rural communities. That’s exactly why I’m excited to support Matt Reisetter to represent us in Iowa House District 76.

First off, Matt’s a family man. That matters to me. When someone understands what it’s like to build a life around kids, a spouse, and a place you call home, they bring a different kind of judgment to public office — one rooted in the same priorities many of us wrestle with every day.

Second, Matt has real convictions, and he doesn’t hide them to win votes. In a political climate where so many candidates try to be all things to all people, it’s refreshing to support someone who tells you where he stands and stands there.

Third, Matt is business smart. Running a farm operation means understanding margins, markets, and risk — and Matt has shown he understands what it takes for small businesses and family farms alike to stay afloat and grow in this economy. That’s the kind of practical, grounded thinking we need at the statehouse.

Fourth, Matt shows up. He’s been out talking with people across Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Dysart, La Porte City, Traer, Elk Run Heights, Washburn, Buckingham, and Mount Auburn. That kind of engagement builds trust, and it tells me he’ll keep showing up after he’s elected too.

Finally, Matt is a man of faith who leads with humility and a servant’s heart. That grounding shapes how he treats people and how he’ll approach the responsibility of representing us.

What means the most to my family, though, is the work Matt has put into actually understanding agriculture and rural life. He hasn’t just talked to farmers — he’s taken the time to learn what we’re up against: commodity prices, input costs, land values, the challenges of keeping the next generation on the farm. He gets that when farmers do well, our small towns and Main Streets do well too. I believe Matt will be a real champion for agriculture and a strong voice for rural Iowa in Des Moines.
