Before Judge Lars G. Anderson in Tama County District Court in Toledo: Christopher F. Bullins, 42, Tama, pleaded guilty to 1st degree theft. He received a 10-year suspended prison sentence and was placed on supervised probation to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services for three years and to pay the enrollment fee. A $1,000 fine, court costs and court-appointed attorney fees were waived because it was determined by the court the defendant does not have the reasonable ability to pay the expenses. Bullins was originally charged with 1st degree robbery for allegedly holding a gun to the back of a victim’s head while his girlfriend searched the person for weapons and money. Court records show the incident occurred on March 2, 2019, in a parking lot in the 200 block of Harmon Street in downtown Tama. Tama Police Chief Jason Bina filed the charge. Cody Michael Behrends, 30, Waterloo, entered a written guilty plea to a charge of operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent. He was sentenced to a two-year in prison term to be served concurrently with a Story County sentence also on the same charge. A $625 fine was suspended and court costs were waived. Behrends was originally charged on Oct. 28, 2019, with 2nd degree theft at Iowa Highway 8 and 2nd Street, Traer. He was accused of stealing a 1997 pickup truck from the parking lot of New Century FS in Traer and driving it to Waterloo and “dumping it.” The charge was field by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Joseph Quandt. He pleaded guilty in Story County District Court to stealing a car from the parking lot of an Ames convenience store on Oct. 22, 2019. Kyra Barbara Spinler, 19, rural Tama, received a deferred sentence on a charge of neglect of a dependent of which she had previously pleaded guilty. She was placed on supervised probation to the 6th Judicial District Department of Correctional Services for four years, directed to pay the $300 supervisory enrollment and court costs of $350. Spinler was indicted by a Tama County Grand Jury on Dec. 14, 2018, on three counts including neglect of a dependent person. Autumn Fritz, 25, Grundy Center, pleaded guilty to 2nd degree burglary. She was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison to be served concurrently with a series of court sentences in Black Hawk County and a Grundy County court sentence. She was ordered to pay $390 restitution to Glen Lage, Gladbrook. A $1,000 fine was suspended and court costs and attorney fees were waived. Fritz was charged for aiding and abetting a burglary by being the driver of a vehicle to a rural location where she knew her partner was going to commit a burglary. After a .22 caliber file, a drill and charger and alcohol were taken and placed in the vehicle she allegedly drove it to Waterloo. Waterloo Police located the vehicle and the stolen items were observed in plain site according to the court record. the charge as filed by Tama County Deputy Sheriff Travis Foster.
